Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General advice No hazards which require special first aid measures.
Eye contact Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water, also under the eyelids. Get medical attention/advice immediately if symptoms occur.
Skin contact Wash off with soap and water. While removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. Get medical attention/advice immediately if symptoms occur.
Ingestion Rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting. If conscious, give 2 glasses of water. Get immediately medical attention.
Inhalation Move to fresh air. Get medical attention immediately if symptoms occur.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed.
Redness, itching and harmful if swallowed.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed.
Notes to physician Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media Water spray, foam, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide (CO2).
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reason
Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions: Carbon oxides, sulfur oxides

Advice for firefighters
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Evacuate non-essential personnel. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breath vapours or mist. For personal protection see “Exposure control/personal protection.
Environmental precautions
Should not be released into the environment.
Methods and material for contaminant and cleaning up
Soap up with inert absorbent material (e.g. dry sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, saw dust). Sweep up and shovel into suitable containers for disposal. Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Ensure adequate ventilation. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities.
Store in original container. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilation place. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Incompatible material: Oxidising agents, strong acids and bases.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters
Exposure limits: Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit value.

Exposure controls
Transported isolated intermediate, to be used only under strictly controlled conditions as specified in Article 18 of Regulation 1907/2006/EC (REACH)
(a) The substance is rigorously contained by technical means during its whole lifecycle including manufacture, purification, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, sampling, analysis, loading and unloading of equipment or vessels, waste disposal or purification and storage.
(b) Procedural and control technologies shall be used that minimise emission and any resulting exposure;
(c) Only properly trained and authorised personnel handle the substance:
(d) In case of cleaning and maintenance works, special procedures such as purging and washing are applied before the system is opened and entered.
(e) In case of accidental and where waste is generated, procedural and/or control technologies are used to minimise emissions and the resulting exposure purification or cleaning and maintenance procedures;
(f) Substance-handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator.

1. Technical protection measures
The usual precautionary measures are to be adhered to when handling this chemical.
Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and food. Immediately remove all soiled and contaminated clothing. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.
2. Respiratory protection; In case of brief exposure or low pollution, use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device.
3. Hand protection
- Protective gloves: The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/the substance/the preparation. Due to missing tests no recommendation to the glove material can be given for the product/the substance/the preparation.
Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and degradation.
- Material of gloves: The selection of the glove material does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacture to manufacture.
- Penetration time of glove material; The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.
4. Eye protection; Safety glasses with side shield or tightly fitting safety goggles. Face shield if necessary.
5. Body protection; Long sleeved clothing.

Stability and reactivity

- Thermal decomposition/ conditions to be avoided; stable under normal handling and storage conditions.
- Possibility of hazardous reactions; No dangerous reactions known.
- Incompatible materials: Avoid contact with metals. Reacts with oxidising agent. Reacts with strong bases.
- Hazardous decomposition products; hydrogen bromide, hydrgoen chloride, carbon oxides.

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues/unused products; dispose of as hazardous waste in compliance with local and national regulations.
Contaminated packing; Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.
