Description of key information

logKoc: > 5 (KOCWIN v2.00)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental studies are available for Fatty acids, C16-18 (even numbered) and C18-unsatd., branched and linear, di- and triesters with trimethylolpropane (former CAS 85005-23-8). Using KOCWIN v2.00 with SMILES notation, log Koc values of 11.6 – 14.5 (estimate with MCI method) was calculated, indicating a high adsorption potential of the test substance. This result is supported by a read-across study with the substance Ester reaction products of fatty acid, C5-10, pentaerythritol and dipentaerythritol, where a log Koc of 4 - 7 was established in a guideline study according to OECD 121 under GLP conditions (Sydney, 2008). An expert statement on adsorption/desorption for Fatty acids, C16-18 (even numbered) and C18-unsatd., branched and linear, di- and triesters with trimethylolpropane (former CAS 85005-23-8) is available, indicating that a study is even technically not feasible due to the low very water solubility (Brekelmans, 1997).
