First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move affected person to fresh air.  Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with large amounts of water for at

least 15 minutes.  If symptoms persist, seek medical

attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with plenty of soap and water.  Do not

use organic solvent.  If symptoms persist, seek medical

attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse out mouth with water.  Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, alcohol or polymer foam

extinguishers may be used.

Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a

fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg carbon, nitrogen and

sulphur oxides and molybdenum containing compounds).

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing

apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to

the relevant national or international standards as

mentioned in section 2.3.10.

Absorb spillages with a suitable inert material (eg sand or

soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste containers,

or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine. Containers filled

with waste material must be labelled in the same way as the

original containers.

Clean the spillage area with water and detergent.

Dispose of waste material by incineration in accordance with

local regulations.

Do not discharge to drain.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used in

conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with

any local regulations in order to avoid exposure by

ingestion or skin contact.

Local exhaust ventilation controls are necessary to reduce

exposure to the substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled

appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.

Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate

international or national standards as follows;

Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374

Chemical resistant clothing to Standard EN368

Eye protection to Standard EN166

When necessary appropriate respiratory protection should be

used. e.g. a dust mask conforming to EN149 FFP1 or a vapour

mask conforming to EN405 FFA1.

The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a

minimum.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from bright

light.

Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 200l Steel drums.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from minor spillages or accidental discharge is not

economically or technically feasible, and such waste

material should be disposed of by incineration. In

principle, it may be possible to recover larger spillages of

uncontaminated material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralize the

hazardous properties.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning

under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment

processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases

should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg carbon,

nitrogen, sulphur oxides and molybdenum containing

compounds) could be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to

the sewage system or the aqueous environment.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not practical as although the substance is available to the

general public it will be in very small quantities

(typically 0.1%) in the final engine oil products.
