The rate of reaction of 3-Ethoxypropionic Acid Ethyl Ester with photochemically-generated hydroxyl radical (i.e., indirect photolysis) was estimated using the U.S. EPA AOPWIN software (v1.91) from its two-dimensional molecular structure. The estimated rate is 15.85*10^-12 cm^3/(molecule*second). Assuming a diurnally and annually averaged tropospheric hydroxyl radical concentration of 500,000 molecules OH/cm3, and a 24-hr. photoday, 3-Ethoxypropionic Acid Ethyl Ester is estimated to exhibit a half-life in the atmosphere of 24 hours. Based on this half-life, 3-Ethoxypropionic Acid Ethyl Ester has a low potential for long-range transport (half-life < 2 days).
