Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
no
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Test substance did not catch fire. Under carbonised surface, a red-hot matter glowed. However, no propagation of the red-hot zone through the shape of the strip was observed. The substance did not propagate burning of a 200 mm length of the strip in less than four minutes, therefore burning rate test did not need to be performed.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
The substance did not propagate burning of a 200 mm length of the strip in less than four minutes, therefore burning rate test did not need to be performed and the substance is considered to be not flammable.
Executive summary:

Method

The test was performed according to internationally accepted testing EU method A.10.

Result

Test substance did not catch fire. The substance did not propagate burning of a 200 mm length of the strip in less than four minutes, therefore burning rate test did not need to be performed and the substance is considered to be not flammable.

Description of key information

Non flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The test was performed according to internationally accepted testing method A.10. The test item did not catch fire. The substance did not propagate burning of a 200 mm length of the strip in less than four minutes, therefore burning rate test did not need to be performed.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008), 2.7 section, flammable solids, powdered, granular or pasty substances or mixtures shall be classified as readily combustible solids when the time of burning of one or more of the test runs, performed in accordance with the test method described in Part III, sub-section 33.2.1, of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, is less than 45 seconds or the rate of burning is more than 2.2 mm/s.

In the flammability test performed the item did not propagate burning of a 200 mm length of the strip in less than four minutes, therefore the substance resulted non flammable.

In conclusion, according to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008) the substance is classified as NON flammable.
