Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available

Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is completely molten at 160°C

Description of key information

non flammable
no pyrophoricity
no flammability on contact with water

not self heating

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Based on flash point, boiling point and fire point the substance Tetraesters of pentaerythritol with 2-ethylhexanoic acid, heptanoic acid and nonanoic acid is a non flammable liquid.

Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure pyrophoricity, self heating and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

Based on flash point and boiling point the substance is a non flammable liquid.

Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity, self heating and flammability on contact with water are not expected.
