readily biodegradable

Additional information

The assessment of the biodegradability of 2'-hydroxyacetophenone (CAS 118-93-4) is based on an OECD 301B (CO2 evolution test) GLP guideline study using non-adapted activated sludge as inoculum (Hoechst Celanese Corp., 1996). After 28 days, biodegradation was 90% (mean value of 86.7 % and 93.2 % degradation, in the two tested concentrations, respectively; the ten-day window was met.

In addition, 2'-hydroxyacetophenone was tested in a static OECD 302B Zahn-Wellens test. Activated sludge was treated with the test substance and degradation was determined measurement of the amount of solved carbon (DOC); biodegradation was 95% after 13 days indicating the substance to be inherently biodegradable.
