"Because of its structure, IBDU is potentially susceptible to hydrolysis. The calculated half-life for hydrolysis is, however, over one year (using HYDROWIN v1.67). After dissolving in water IBDU gradually undergoes hydrolysis. One mole of IBDU gives two moles of urea and one mole of isobutylaldehyde. Hydrolysis of IBDU will be influenced by pH. Measurements gave an increase of total nitrogen and urea nitrogen in the solution as pH decreased. In two insufficient documented studies it was assumed that dissolved IBDU will be decomposed by hydrogen ion attack." (from OECD SIDS N,N"-(isobutyldiene)diurea, CAS: 6104 -30 -9, final 04/2007).
