Description of key information

As member of the Long Chain Aliphatic Esters (LCAE) category, dodecanoic acid, tetradecyl ester is hydrolytically stable in water. Hydrolysis is possible by specific enzymatic activity. Experimentally, LCAE appear to be readily biodegradable and thus dodecanoic acid, tetradecyl ester is expected to be rapidly degraded by microorganisms in both the aquatic and terrestrial environments as well, and therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex IX, column 2, -, further simulation tests for water and sediment or soil biodegradation are not necessary.
