yes

Test material

Constituent 1
Chemical structure
Reference substance name:
5-amino-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol-2-one
EC Number:
202-401-8
EC Name:
5-amino-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol-2-one
Cas Number:
95-23-8
Molecular formula:
C7H7N3O
IUPAC Name:
5-amino-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol-2-one
Details on test material:
The test item contains about 13 % water. Reason is that this compound is manufacturer and further processed only as water wet substance.
It is not expec ted that the additonal amount of water has an influence on the results.

Sampling and analysis

Analytical monitoring:
no

Test solutions

Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
A homogenized solution of the test substance is mixed into the experimental basin. The test substance is settled down as brown substance on the floor of the fish tank. Concentrations refer to total mass of test substance added to the tank.

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)

Behaviour:

After 24 h the fishes showed a dark discolouration.

After 96 h some specimen showed sometimes increased swimming at the surface.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
No lethality in group with substance concentration 10000 mg/l. No lethality in control group
Executive summary:

Test for short time toxicity for fish was performed according to OECD test method 203 and EC-method C1 on brachydanio rerio, no deviations from the described methods were observed. Method: static, limit test with concentration 10.000 mg/l .

The test substance Aminolon TF did not dissolve well under aquous conditions. At test concentration 10.000 mg/l, the substance formed a sediment at the bottom of the vessel. No analysis (neither quantitative nor qualitative) was performed for the dissolved amount of the substance.

Over 96 h no lethality was observed, neither in the concentration nor in the control group, the fishes in the concentration group showed altered behaviour.

Result: under short term conditions the substance is not toxic to fish at concentration >10.000 mg/l related to LC50.
