Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Bioaccumulation: aquatic / sediment

An estimated BCF value of 3 was calculated in fish for 4-nitro-1,3-benzenediamine ,using an estimated log Kow of 0.55 and a regression-derived equation. This BCF value suggests that the potential for bioconcentration in aquatic organisms (fish) is low.

Additional information

Bioaccumulation: aquatic / sediment

Four studies including experimental data from authorative database and predicted data from validated models for bioaccumulation (BCF) endpoint of target chemical 4-nitrobenzene-1,3-diamine (Cas no. 5131-58-8) were summarized as follows:

First study for target chemical (Cas no. 5131-58 -8) which suggest an estimated BCF value of 3 was calculated in fish for 4-nitro-1,3-benzenediamine ,using an estimated log Kow of 0.55 and a regression-derived equation. This BCF value suggests that the potential for bioconcentration in aquatic organisms (fish) is low. (HSDB database by US EPA; 2017)

Above result is supported by prediction using BCFBAF (v3.00) model and PBT profiler which indicate the estimated bio concentration factor (BCF) for 4-nitro-1,3-benzenediamine is 3.2 L/kg wet-wt which does not exceed the bioconcentration threshold of 2000. Thus it is concluded that 4-nitro-1,3-benzenediamine is not expected to bio accumulate in the aquatic environment.

Above prediction is further assisted by Scifinder database which suggest the Bioconcentration factor (BCF) for target chemical 4-nitrobenzene-1,3-diamine was estimated to be 1.0 at pH 1, 1.68 at pH 2, 1.85-1.88 at pH range 3-10 at temperature 25 deg.C.Based on the BCF concentration at all range of pH it is concluded that the test chemical 4-nitrobenzene-1,3-diamine is non bioaccumulative in nature as it does not exceed the BCF criteria of 2000.

Chemspider - ACD/PhysChem Suite prediction model indicate the Bioconcentration factor (BCF) for target chemical 4-nitrobenzene-1,3-diamine was estimated to be 5.10 at pH 5.5 and 7.4 at temperature 25 deg.C. Based on the BCF concentration at two different pH concluded that the test chemical 4-nitrobenzene-1,3-diamine is non bioaccumulative in nature as it does not exceed the BCF criteria of 2000.

Thus based on all available studies for bioaccumulation endpoint concluded that the test substance 4-nitrobenzene-1,3-diamine (Cas no. 5131-58-8) is expected to be non Bioaccumulative in aquatic environment.
