Description of key information
Testing for this endpoint has been waived because the study is scientifically unjustified. The substance is a liquid, and the key value for the flammability classification and labelling under CLP of liquids is the flash point. Flammable liquid means a liquid having a flashpoint of not more than 60°C. The flashpoint of Melonal has been determined to be 62°C, which is above the cut-off value.
An expert statement has also concluded that based on the structural formula Melonal is not expected to be flammable.
Also, it can be concluded beyond reasonable doubt that the contact of the substance Melonal with water or damp air will not lead to the development of dangerous amounts of gas or gases which may be highly flammable.
