Thermal
sensitivity (effect of a flame)
Tests
carried out with the sample using the plate with a 6 mm hole showed the
following trend:
-
From about 21 seconds enlargement of the flame, generation of white
fumes and light rain of fire
-
End of these phenomena after about 370 seconds.
-
End of the observation after 600 seconds.
The
tests with the plate with the 2 mm hole showed similar behavior to that
with the plate with the 6 mm hole, apart from a higher intensity of the
flame.
In
none of the six tests prescribed by method (three with the plate with 6
mm hole and three with the one with 2 mm hole) there has been the
breakage of the specimen holder.
Mechanical
sensitivity (shock)
The
sample with the test substance did not result in an explosion (bursting
into flame and/or a report is equivalent to explosion) in six tests with
impact energy of 40 J.
The
sample is not sensitive to shocks.
Mechanical
sensitivity (friction)
The
sample did not give rise to an explosion ( rattling a violent ignition
or flame are equivalent to explosion) in any of the six tests provided
with the load of 360 N.
The
sample is not friction sensitive.

Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008), substances, mixtures and articles are classified as an unstable explosive on the basis of the flowchart in Figure 2.1.2 of the CLP Regulation. The test methods are described in Part I of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria.
Explosives, which are not classified as an unstable explosive, shall be classified in one of the six divisions based on Test Series 2 to 8 in Part I of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria according to the results of the tests of explosibility, sensitiveness and thermal stability, laid down in Table 2.1.1 of CLP Regulation.
Test substance was evaluated as for the thermal sensitivity and the mechanical sensitivity (with respect to shock and friction). Test results are negative, since no explosion occurred. On these bases, the substance is not classified.
