Description of key information

The particle size of estrone was determined to be between 2.5 µm - 400 µm with a calculated mean value of 109.01 µm. The particles appeared to be irregular shaped crystals.

Additional information

Due to the powder being agglomerated and the fact that the dry powder module produced particulate fractures at elevated pressure, the analysis was carried out using the `wet', small volume dispersion system. Several solvents were tried, in order to determine a suitable medium that provided maximum dispersability, but with minimum solubility. Sunflower oil was selected as the most suitable dispersant.
