Description of key information

A weight of evidence approach was used in order to select the water solubility key value for chemical safety assessment for the test item. This approach was performed on all the consituents of the dried test item (dried Sodium Chloride, dried Sodium Carbonate, dried Sodium Sulphate). All the data used are all of Klimisch reliability 2 coming from recognised Handbooks or from an experimental study (for the dried Sodium Carbonate).

The water solubility is definied in the OECD 105 guideline as: "saturation concentration in water at a given temperature". Therefore, the dried test item water solubility is considered to be equal as the lowest water solubility of the dried test item consituent.

Dried Sodium Chloride, dried Sodium Carbonate and dried Sodium Sulphate are higly soluble in water at 20°C. The solubilities of these substances are included 170 g/l and 358 g/l at 20°C.
