Results

In the thermograms of the two DSC runs (nos. PN7337 and PN7338) an endothermic (melting) effect was observed in the temperature range of -50 °C to - 30 °C. Between 150 to 310 °C a second endothermic effect (boiling) could be detected.

The test item showed a second distinct endothermic signal in the temperature range of 150 to 310 °C that can be associated with the boiling of the test item.

For the correction of the boiling temperature to standard pressure the test item was assigned to chemical group 2 (eg. Hydrocarbons). A correction value φ = 5.1 was used for the temperature range from 250 °C to 300 °C.

The lowest measured onset temperature is corrected to the standard pressure to be 248.91 °C and the highest onset temperature to be 266.82 °C. As the corrected onset temperatures in both tests deviate by less than 0.5 K from their mean value of 257.87 °C, the test item has a boiling range from 249 °C to 267 °C. No further thermal effects were observed up to the test temperature of 500 °C.

Final Results

The test item has a boiling range of 249 °C to 267 °C at atmospheric pressure (1013 hPa) as determined by differential scanning calorimetry according to Directive EC440/2008 Method A.2., OECD Test Guideline 103 (1995), EPA OCSPP 830.7220 (1998).

Conclusions:
A boiling range of 249 to 267 °C (at 1013 hPa) was determined for the test substance according to E.U. Method A.2.

Description of key information

Composition A: Boiling range: 249 to 267 °C at 1013 hPa (EU Method A.2, differential scanning calorimetry)

Composition B: Boiling point: 270. 5 °C at 1013 hPa (EU Method A.2, differential scanning calorimetry)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A boiling range of 249 to 267 °C (at 1013 hPa) was determined for Composition A according to E.U. Method A.2.

Composotion B has a boiling point of 270.5 °C at atmospheric pressure (1013 hPa) as determined by Differential Scanning Calorimetry and confirmed by the capillary method according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Method A.2. and OECD Test Guideline 103 (1995). The test item starts colourizing at this temperature, which indicates the beginning of decomposition.
