- Endpoint:
- boiling point
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- August 25, 2004
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study with acceptable restrictions
- Remarks:
- The study was conducted according to an internationally recognised method, and under GLP. Minor restrictions apply for technical inaccuracy. The substance is considered to be adequately characterised. Therefore, validation applies with restrictions.

- Specific details on test material used for the study:
- - Physical state: Colourless liquid
- Storage condition of test material: Refrigerator (between 0 and 10 °C under nitrogen) - Key result
- Boiling pt.:
- 322 °C
- Atm. press.:
- 97.3 kPa
- Decomposition:

- Remarks on result:
- other: 595 K
- Conclusions:
- The boiling temperature of test substance has been determined to be 322 ± 2 °C (595 ± 2 K) at 97.3 kPa.
- Executive summary:
The boiling point of the test substance was determined under GLP according to OECD 103/EU A2 guideline, by Siwoloboff (capillary) method.
A sample was heated in a sample boiling capillary tube containing a temperature sensor and a fused capillary containing an air bubble in the lower part, was dipped in the sample tube. A preliminary test was performed with a heating rate of 10 °C/min. After that, duplicate measurements were made heating at 2 °C/min. The mean final temperature was retained. No correction for normal atmospheric pressure was applied.
The boiling temperature of test substance has been determined to be 322 ± 2 °C (595 ± 2 K) at the atmospheric pressure of 97.3 kPa.
Reference
Preliminary test: 596 K (323 °C) at 97.3 kPa
Determination 1: 595 K (322 °C) at 97.3 kPa
Determination 2: 595 K (322 °C) at 97.3 kPa
Description of key information
The boiling point of the test item has been determined to be 322 ± 2 °C (595 ± 2 K) at 97.3 kPa (not corrected to normal atmP)
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
- 322 °C
Additional information
A reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized OECD/EC method and under GLP, is available. Despite minor restrictions due to heating rate, it is considered as a key study. The result is retained as key data.
