The aquatic toxicity towards fish has been examined in two guideline study according to OECD 203. In the key study no mortalities were observed within the limits of water solubility. The LC50 (96 h) is greater than 0.0066 mg/L. This is supported by the second study, where no mortalities were observed in a saturated solution with a nominal loading rate of 1 mL/L (according to OECD series, No. 23 (2000)). The corresponding LC50 value is greater than 1 mL/L.

Two toxicity studies with the test substance on daphnia has been conducted according to guideline OECD 202. The key study showed no immobilization of daphnids in a satuarated solution. The measured concentrations were below the detection limits. Therefore, the results have been based on the nominal values and demonstrated a EC50 greater than 100 % of the saturated solution (100 mg/L has been used in this study). The supporting study used a nominal loading of 2 mL/L test substance in a saturated solution. In this study no effects or immobilization of daphnids were observed. Therefore, the EL50 has been calculated to be >2 mL/L.

Two toxicity studies with algae has been performed according to the guideline OECD 201. In the key study a saturated solution of 100 mg/L has been used to examine the toxicity on Desmodesmus subspicatus. The EC50 has been based on the geometric mean of the measured test concentrations and has been shown to be greater than 0.0015 mg/L based on growth rate. In a another toxicity study with Pseudokirchneriella subspicata, a saturated solution of 1 mL/L has been used in the test. The measured concentration were below the detection limit, therefore the effect levels were given based on the nominal loading. Inhibition of the growth rate and yield was found after 72 h. Therefore, the NOEC is <1 mL/L and the EC50 is >1 mL/L based on growth rate. Nevertheless, the study is considered for classification and labeling as the test concentration of 1 mL/L is high, at lower test concentrations no effects are expected.
