Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

TGIC is sold as a granulate with a average particle size diameter of 4-8 mm. Smaller particles are possible due to transport shaking and abrasion between particles. However, this fraction generally remains negligible.

Additional information

TGIC is sold as a low dust granulate with particle size diameters of 4 - 8 mm.

During the entire process of formulation non-significant amounts of dust are generated.

For powder coating application, however, the formulation containing 4 -10% TGIC is ground to a fine powder of particle size 5 -20 microns in order to be electrostatically applicated to charged surfaces.

According to NICNAS (1994) the particle size distribution for a TGIC technical grade granules:

0.003% < 10 mm, 0.12% < 150mm, 99.6% > 400 mm.

Particle size distribution of two powder coatings:

a) 99.7% < 105 mm, 6.2% < 9.56 mm, 2.3% < 7 mm; and

b) 96% < 106 mm, 4.0% < 9.4 mm, 1.0% < 6.6 mm, before grinding
