Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Based on the test results, tetrammine platinum (II) dichloride does not fulfil the criteria of the Hazard Class “Oxidizing Solids” of the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and GHS.
Executive summary:

The study to determine oxidising properties of tetrammine platinum (II) dichloride was performed according to UN-Test O.1 (Michael-Schulz 2016). The study is an unpublished guideline study that is reliable without restriction.

The mean burning times of the 1:1 and 4:1 sample-to-cellulose mixtures (by mass) were higher than the mean burning time R1 (118 s) of the 3:7 mixture (by mass) of potassium bromate to cellulose. Based on the test results, tetrammine platinum (II) dichloride does not fulfil the criteria of Class 5.1 “Oxidizing Substances” of the TDG or the Hazard Class “Oxidizing Solids” of the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and GHS.

Description of key information

Based on the test results, tetraammineplatinum dichloride does not fulfil the criteria of Class 5.1 “Oxidizing Substances” of the TDG or Hazard Class “Oxidizing Solids” of the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and GHS.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

The study to determine oxidising properties of tetraammineplatinum dichloride was performed according to UN-Test O.1 (Michael-Schulz 2016).

Justification for classification or non-classification

The mean burning times of the 1:1 and 4:1 sample-to-cellulose mixtures (by mass) of > 180 s were higher than the mean burning time R1 (118 s) of the 3:7 mixture (by mass) of potassium bromate to cellulose.
