Additional information

The substance FAT 41001 is a black coloured powder, solid at 20 °C .

The test substance FAT 41001/H did not melt or boil until 330 °C and begin of thermic decomposition observed around 330 °C when tested according to OECD test guideline 102 for melting point and OECD test guideline 103 for boiling point determination, respectively.

The average density of test substance FAT 41001/H at 20 °C was found to be 1.4163 g/cm³.

The proportion of FAT 41001/H having an inhalable particle size of less than 100 µm was determined by a sieve method to be 98.5%.

According to OECD guideline 107 the partition coefficient n-octanol/water at 20 °C, from the individual solubility in water and n-octanol, was determined to be log Pow = -3.88

According to OECD guideline 105 the water solubility at a temperature of 20 °C was determined to (without correction for the purity): cs = 332 g/l.

The surface tension of FAT 41001/H was determined to be 52.661 mN/m at room temperature ca. 20 °C.

Because the test substance is a solid the flash point of FAT 41001 was not determined. In accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI, information requirement section 7.9, this study does not need to be conducted based on the physical state of the substance. According to ECHA guidance, flash point is only relevant to substances that are liquid at room temperature.

The test item FAT 41001/H showed no auto-ignition until 550 °C and the substance is considered not to be highly flammable and does not ignite spontaneously when in contact with water or humid air.

The analysis of the chemical structures of the test substance FAT 41001 reveals no alerts for explosive properties. The calculated chemical oxygen balance is above the trigger value of -200 and the determination of the exothermic decomposition energy demonstrated no energy release above the critical value of 500 J/g. Therefore the substance is considered to be non-explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and no further testing is required.

Oxidising properties of FAT 41001 was not determined. In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, this study does not need to be conducted as this substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of its chemical structure.
