 Preliminary test

The test item could not be ignited with a flame.

Therefore, the performance of the main test was not necessary.

Executive summary:

The test item is not a highly flammable solid in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method A.10.

The test item is not a readily combustible solid in the sense of UN Manual of Test and Criteria, Method N.1.

Due to these results the test item does not have to be classified as “readily combustible solid”, class 4.1 of the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods / Manual of Tests and Criteria.

Due to these results the test item does not have to be classified as “flammable solid” according to chapter 2.7[1]of the GHS (CLP) regulations.

[1]Chapter 2.7 of the UN Globally harmonised system of classification and labelling of chemicals (GHS), 4th revised edition, 2011 (UN GHS) and also chapter 2.7 in the CLP regulation 1272/2008 (EU GHS).

Description of key information

The purpose of this study was the determination of the flammability (solids) of the test item according to:
European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008,
A.10. Flammability (solids)
UN Manual of test and criteria, rev.5,
N.1 Test method for readily combustible solids

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The test item could not be ignited with a flame.

Justification for classification or non-classification
