Description of key information

The acute toxicity of the test item to the worm Eisenia fetida was assessed in a 14 day test according to OECD guideline 207. The LC50 was determined to be 3260 mg/kg soil dw.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for soil macroorganisms:
3 260 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

The acute toxicity of the test item to the worm Eisenia fetida was assessed in a 14 day test, following the OECD Guideline No 207. Four replicates with 10 worms each were set up for the concentration of 0 (aqueous control), 953, 1715, 3086, 5556 and 10000 mg/kg soil dw of test item, using artificial OECD 207 soil.

At day 7 and 14 mortality and conditions of worms were assessed, at the end of the test worms were weighed. No mortalities occurred at 953 and 1715 mg/kg soil dw while 100% mortality occurred at 5556 and 10000 mg/kg soil dw. A dose-related weight loss was observed. On Day 7 worms dosed with 3086 mg/kg soil dw test substance appeared thin and inactive. The 14d NOEC (bodyweight) was set at 953 mg/kg soil dw and Day 14 LC50 =3260 mg/kg soil dw.
