Description of key information

Non flammable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The analogue substance was tested following EU Method A10 and A12 (NONS 1988). Under the experimental conditions the substance did not show flammable properties. Based on the read across considerations same results apply to Reactive Red 239:1.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008), 2.7 section, flammable solids, powdered, granular or pasty substances or mixtures shall be classified as readily combustible solids when the time of burning of one or more of the test runs, performed in accordance with the test method described in Part III, sub-section 33.2.1, of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, is less than 45 seconds or the rate of burning is more than 2.2 mm/s.

In the flammability test performed the substance did not propagate burning of a 200 mm length of the strip in less than four minutes, therefore the substance resulted non flammable.
