1- (2-aminoethyl) imidazolidin-2-one is solid at temperature ambient. The liquid is recommended for measuring flash point. Melting temperature is 60 ° C (DSC measurement). The sample has been immersed in a water bath at 65 ° C for 2 hours prior to loading, to perform the measurement of flash point. No flash point was detected from 60 ° C to 200 ° C. At 180 ° C, the sample begins to emit strong white vapors, result of degradation thereof. The final product heated to 200 ° C literally changes color and texture compared to the product of departure. Initially, the product once liquefied, is yellowish, relatively cloudy and viscous. At 180 ° C, it turns into a more fluid product remaining liquid and clear at room temperature, and takes a caramel color.
