First-aid measures

• General information:Symptoms of poisoning may even occur after several hours; therefore medical observation for at least 48 hours after the accident.

• After inhalation:Remove the casualty out of the danger area after first ensuring your own safety. Loosen the patient's clothing. If the casualty is unconscious, place in the recovery position and monitor breathing. Apply artificial respiratory only if the patient is not breathing. Seek medical attention.

• After skin contact:In case of skin contact, flood the splashed area with large quantities of running water. Get medical aid.

• After eye contact:If the substance has entered the eyes, wash out with water or saline solution for at least 15 minutes. Get medical aid.

• After swallowing:If the chemical has been confined to the mouth give large quantities of water as a mouthwash. Ensure that the mouthwash is not swallowed. If the chemical has been swallowed, give about 250ml of water to dilute it in the stomach. Obtain medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

• Extinguishing media

• Suitable extinguishing agents:CO2, powder or water spray. Fight larger fires with water spray or alcohol resistant foam.

• For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents: Strong oxidizing agents, bases.

• Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions (Hydrogen bromide, oxides of nitrogen and carbon).

• Advice for firefighters

• Protective equipment:Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

Accidental release measures

• Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe dust.Wear protective clothing specified for normal operations.

• Environmental precautions:

Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.Inform the local authorities if this cannot be prevented.

• Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Sweep up spilled substance but avoid making dust. Transfer to a closable salvage container for disposal by an appropriate method or retain for recovery. Wash the spillage site with large amounts of water. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained.

Handling and storage

• Precautions for safe handling Provide suction extractors if dust is formed.

• Information about fire - and explosion protection: Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke

• Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles: Store in a cool location.

• Information about storage in one common storage facility: Store away from foodstuffs.

• Further information about storage conditions: Store receptacle in fume cupboard.

• Specific end use(s) Chemical intermediate

Exposure controls / personal protection

• Personal protective equipment:

• General protective and hygienic measures:Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.

• Respiratory protection: General purpose dust respirator (cartridge) NPF 7-10.

• Material of gloves Nitrile rubber, NBR Neoprene gloves

• Penetration time of glove material

The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

• Eye protection: Dust-tight monogoggles.

• Body protection: Use protective suit.

Stability and reactivity

• Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided:Avoid temperatures above 102°C. Protect from moist air or water as it is hygroscopic in nature.Avoid dust formation, excess heat and incompatible products.

• Possibility of hazardous reactions No dangerous reactions known..

• Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents, bases.

• Hazardous decomposition products:

Not under normal conditions. Will occur at temperatures above 102°C; decomposition product will be :Hydrogen bromide gas, carbon oxides, hydrogen halides and oxides of nitrogen .

Disposal considerations

• Waste treatment methods

• RecommendationMust not be disposed together with household garbage . Do not allow product to reach sewage system.Chemical must be disposed of in compliance with the respective national regulations.

• Uncleaned packaging:

• Recommendation:Handle contaminated packaging in the same way as the substance itself. If not officially specified differently,Non - contaminated packaging may be treated like household waste or recycled.
