Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
From the assessment of the chemical structure it was established that TCD would not have oxidising properties

Description of key information

From the assessment of the chemical structure it was established that TCD would not have oxidising properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

An assessment of oxidising properties was conducted as part of a package of physico-chemical testing for TCD (Huntingdon Life Sciences, 2013, Study number VHJ0054). The assessment was conducted in compliance with GLP, and was performed according to EC test method A.21. On the basis of the theoretical assessment of the structure of TCD it was concluded that the substance would not possess oxidising properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to CLP regulation 2.13.4.1, classifciation for oxidisng properties does not apply if the substance under consideration does not contain oxygen, fluorine or chlorine. Since TCD does not contain any of these atoms it is regarded as not classified for oxidisng properties.
