Reference
Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. certificate)
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
A theoretical assessment of the explosive properties was performed based on the chemical structure of the substance. On the basis of the theoretical assessment it was concluded that the substance would not possess explosive properties.

Description of key information

On the basis of the theoretical assessment of the structure of TCD it was concluded that the substance would not possess explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

An explosivity determination was conducted as part of a package of physico-chemical testing for TCD (Huntingdon Life Sciences, 2013, Study number VHJ0054). The testing was conducted in compliance with GLP, and the explosivity determination was performed according to EC test method A.14. On the basis of the theoretical assessment of the structure of TCD it was concluded that the substance would not possess explosive properties

Justification for classification or non-classification

There are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule when compared to the examples of groups which may indicate explosive properties in Table A6.1 of Appendix 6 of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria. Therefore in accordance with the classifciation criteria described in CLP Regulation 2.1.4.3 (a), the substance is not classified as explosive.
