Additional information

Suitable experimental data testing the toxicity of methyl-N- [3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]carbamate (CAS 23432-62-4) towards fish and aq. invertebrates were available. Read across from the structurally analogous substance methyl-N-{[dimethoxy(methyl)silyl]methyl}carbamate (CAS 23432-65-7) was performed to assess the toxicity to algae and aquatic microorganisms.

Information on the read across approach can be found in the justification attached in IUCLID Section 13.

All studies with the target and the source substances were performed according to the appropriate OECD or EU guidelines and GLP standards.

The studies testing the acute toxicity of methyl-N- [3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]carbamate (CAS 23432-62-4) towards fish and aquatic invertebrates did not show any toxic effects and resulted into L/EC50 values of > 100 mg/L (nominal). An ErC50 (72 h) of 117.42 mg/L (nominal) and a NOErC (72 h) of 33.5 mg/L was determined in the study testing the effects of the source substance methyl-N-{[dimethoxy(methyl)silyl]methyl}carbamate (CAS 23432-65-7) to the growth rate of the algae Scenedesmus subspicatus.

Furthermore the influence of the source substance methyl-N-{[dimethoxy(methyl)silyl]methyl}carbamate (CAS 23432-65-7)on the respiration rate of activated sludge was tested according to the OECD guideline 209 and GLP standards. The study resulted into an EC20 (3 h) of > 1000 mg/L (nominal).
