Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Seek medical assistance if you feel unwell.

If breathed in, move person into fresh air.

In case of skin contact, wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.

In case of eye contact, rinse the affected eye with plenty of water, at the same time keep the unaffected eye well protected.

If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show container, safety data sheet or label.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Alcohol-resistant foam, dry powder, water spray jet

Unsuitable extinguishing media: High volume water jet, high pressure gas (e.g. Carbon dioxide (CO2))

In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Carbon monoxide (CO), Carbon dioxide (CO2), intense black smoke

Do not inhale explosion and/or combustion gases In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

The product itself is not highly combustible. Observe standard procedure for chemical fires. Use extinguishing measures that are

appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Please observe escape and rescue routes!

Accidental release measures

Use personal protective clothing. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Remove persons to safety.

The danger areas must be delimited and identified using relevant warning and safety signs.

Do not allow entry to drains, water courses or soil. Contain contaminated water/firefighting water.

Contain spillage, pick up with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet-brushing and transfer to a container

for disposal according to local regulations.

Handling and storage

Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary). Avoid the formation and deposition of dust.

Provide exhaust ventilation if dust is formed. This substance should be handled under strictly controlled conditions as specified in REACH regulation.

Dust can form an explosive mixture with air. Avoid dust formation. Take precautionary measures against build-up of electrostatic charges,

e.g  earthing during loading and off-loading operations. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Observe normal measures for industrial preventive

fire protection.

Hygiene measures

Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time. Remove soiled or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again.

Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt). Keep away from food and drink. Clean hands and face during work intervals and after work

Avoid contact of the substance.

Requirements for storage areas and containers

Keep only in the original container. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Protect from heat and direct sunlight.

Do not store or transport together with foodstuffs.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Apply technical measures to comply with the occupational exposure limits (e.g. OELs for breathable dust). This should be achieved by a good general extraction and -if practically feasible- by the use of a local exhaust ventilation. Apply measures to prevent dust explosions.

Dust must be extracted directly at the point of origin. Refill and handle product only in closed system.

Personal protective equipment

Do not inhale dust. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Eye protection: Depending on the risk, wear sufficient eye protection (safety glasses with side protection or goggles, and if necessary, face  shield.)

Hand protection: Choose gloves to protect hands against chemicals depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous substance and specific to place of work. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374

derived from it. Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace

conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact).

Suitable: Nitrile rubber gloves, Butyl rubber gloves.

With solid dry substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured.

Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indi-cation of degradation or chemical

breakthrough. Gloves must be rinsed thoroughly after use.

Skin and body protection: Choose body protection in relation to its type, to the concen-tration and amount of dangerous substances, and to the

specific workplace, e.g. apron, boots, protective suit (EN 14605, EN ISO 13982-1, EN 13034).

Respiratory protection: Normally no protection needed, if the substance is handled under strictly controlled conditions and if the exposure limits are observed. If the occupational exposure limit is exceeded and/or in case of product release (dust) waer a half mask with a particle filter P2 (EN 143).

Stability and reactivity

The substance is thermally stable at normal storage conditions.

Under the appropriate conditions of use no dangerous reactions are known.

The possibility of dust explosions must be considered, if for any reason the substance is powdered or containes fine particles.

Avoid strong oxidizers, acids and bases.

Disposal considerations

This material and its container must be disposed of as hazardous waste. Dispose of in conjunction with appropriate waste

disposal authorities and in accordance with national and european disposal regulations.

Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste. For disposal local regulation is binding.
