Additional information

The degradation pathway of calcium hypophosphite is through simple dissociation into hypophosphite and the corresponding calcium cation. The study performed to analyse the dissociation constant demonstrates that the Calcium is stable as ion up to pH 12.6 and Hypophosphite ion has no hydrolysable group. Due to its high water solubility and its ionic nature, the substance is not expected to adsorb to soil or sediment or to bioaccumulate, while water is the main target compartment. Calcium hypophosphite will not volatilize from soil or water. Calcium hypophosphite is of no concern for environment.
