Description of key information

The result of the adsorption-desorption test with tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulphate, a salt which is expected to behave similarly to the corresponding chloride salt showed that the adsorption phenomena is not expected to be important on soil or sediment. A median adsorption Koc of 210 was calculated which classifies the substance as medium to highly mobile in soil and sediment. An assessment based on the aquatic PNEC using the equilibrium partition approach with the experimentally determined adsorption coefficient indicated that there is no need for further testing with regard to sediment toxicity.
