The data of reaction product of naphthalene, butanol, sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda have been determined by a read-across approach based on analogue substance reaction product of naphthalene, propan-2-ol, sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda.

Hydrolysis:

One study (B. Foster, 2013), scored as Klimisch 2 and selected as a key study, was performed according to the OECD guideline 111 and GLP.

Less than 10% degradation of Reaction product of naphthalene, propan-2-ol, sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda was observed after 5 days incubation at 50.0 °C in sterile pH 4.0, pH 7.0 and pH 9.0 buffer samples.

Reaction product of naphthalene, propan-2-ol, sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda was considered to be hydrolytically stable at pH 4.0, 7.0 and 9.0.

Biodegradation

Ready biodegradability:

One study (R. Graham, 2012), scored as Klimisch 2 and selected as a key study, was performed according to the OECD guideline 301B. After 28 days, the measured percentages of biodegradation were 0 % based on the determination of the evolution CO2. On the basis of this study, Reaction product of naphthalene, propan-2-ol, sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda is not readily biodegradable.

Inherent biodegradability:

One study (R. Graham, 2013), scored as Klimisch 2 and selected as a key study, was performed according to the OECD guideline 302B. After 28 days, the percentages of biodegradation were 27 % based on the measurement of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). On the basis of this study,Reaction product of naphthalene, propan-2-ol, sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda is inherently biodegradable.

Bioaccumulation:

According to column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the study does not need to be conducted, because Reaction product of naphthalene, propan-2-ol, sulfonated and neutralized by caustic soda is not bioaccumulative, with a log Pow of -0.27 at 20°C.
