The log Kow of the substance has been predicted using a validated QSAR estimation method to be 0.3 at 20°C.

In contact with water, the substance hydrolyses moderately rapidly to form dimethylsilanediol and 2-[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethan-1-ol [triethylene glycol, CAS 112-35-6].

The silanol hydrolysis product, dimethylsilanediol, has a measured log Kow value of -0.38 ± 0.04 at 20.2± 0.3°C, log Kaw value of -6.94 ± 0.33 at 20.2± 0.3°C and log Koa value of 6.58±0.34 at 20.2± 0.3°C using a three phase equilibrium method.
