Additional information

2-Methylpyridine was tested in guideline mutagenicity protocols in bacterial and mammalian cellsin vitroand found to be non-mutagenic. The substance was also studied in a chromosomal aberrations assay, and was concluded to be non-clastogenic. Additional earlier published Ames studies support the conclusion that the substance is not mutagenic.
