Description of key information

One short-term toxicity test with aquatic invertebrates is available for tetramine di-C16 -18. The EC50 observed in this study is 0.244 mg a.i./L based on based on geometric mean measured concentrations.  This observed short term (48h) EC50 is in good agreement with the long term (21d) EC50 for reproduction of 0.236 mg a.i./L based on time weighted mean measured concentrations

Additional information

One short-term toxicity test with aquatic invertebrates is available for tetramine di-C16 -18. An acute immobilization test to Daphnia magna was conducted in accordance with OECD test guideline and with the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice.

The toxicity of tetramine di-C16 -18 to juvenile daphnids was determined in a static system over an exposure period of 48 hours. Nominal concentrations of 0.1, 0.22, 0.48, 1.1 and 2.3 mg/Lwere tested including the required control group.

The 48 h NOEC of tetramine di-C16 -18 was determined as 0.134 mg/L and the 48 h LOEC was determined as 0.334 mg/L. The 48 h EC50 was calculated as 0.244 mg/L based on geometric mean measured concentrations. The Tetramine di-C16 -18 test concentration did not remain stable during the study but could still be accurately measured at the end of the test. Geometric mean concentrations were therefore calculated and used for the endpoint calculations.
