Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
According to EU Method A. 12 with GLP.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.12 (Flammability (Contact with Water))
GLP compliance:
yes
Key result
Remarks on result:
no reaction with water observed

The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience exists at the sponsor and the test facility, e.g. when preparing test substance solutions for testing for fish toxicity or hydrolysis. The test substance in contact with water does not develop any gas at all. Therefore also no highly flammable gases in dangerous quantities at a minimum rate of 1 litre/kg per hour are evolved.

Interpretation of results:
other: Not classified (CLP Regulation EC no. 1272/2008)
Conclusions:
Based on experience, the test substance Wasox-MMAC2 is regarded as not being flammable in contact with water.
Executive summary:

Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
According to EU method A.13 with GLP.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.13 (Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids)
GLP compliance:
yes
Key result
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)

The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience exists at the sponsor and the test facility, e.g. when handling small amounts of the test substance repeatedly in air during testing for various properties. Also experience from the test for auto-ignition of the test substance at elevated temperature is available. The test substance does not ignite in air at ca. 20 oe and even not at temperatures up to 300°C (see separate report on the auto-ignition temperature).

Interpretation of results:
other: Not classified (CLP Regulation EC no. 1272/2008)
Conclusions:
Based on experience, the test substance Wasox-MMAC2 is regarded as not being pyrophoric.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The study does not need to be conducted beacuse the substance is a liquid.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information

Additional information

Flammability in contact with water:

Key study: Laboratory statement: The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience exists at the sponsor and the test facility, e.g. when preparing test substance solutions for testing for fish toxicity or hydrolysis. The test substance in contact with water does not develop any gas at all. Therefore also no highly flammable gases in dangerous quantities at a minimum rate of 1 litre/kg per hour are evolved. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being "flammable in contact with water".

Pyrophoric properties:

Key study: Laboratory statement: The test was not performed experimentally because practical experience, e.g. when handling small amounts of the test substance Wasox-MMAC2 repeatedly in air during testing for various properties. Also experience from the test for auto-ignition of the test substance at elevated temperature is available. The test substance does not ignite in air at ca. 20 °C and even not at temperatures up to 300 °C. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being pyrophoric. The test substance is therefore regarded as not being pyrophoric.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on available information, the substance is non flammable according to CLP Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008.
