Long-term toxicity to fish
Administrative data
- Endpoint:
- fish early-life stage toxicity
- Type of information:
- experimental study planned
- Justification for type of information:
- TESTING PROPOSAL ON VERTEBRATE ANIMALS
NON-CONFIDENTIAL NAME OF SUBSTANCE:
- Name of the substance on which testing is proposed to be carried out: 5,5'-dithiodi-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2(3H)-thione (CAS 72676-55-2)
CONSIDERATIONS THAT THE GENERAL ADAPTATION POSSIBILITIES OF ANNEX XI OF THE REACH REGULATION ARE NOT ADEQUATE TO GENERATE THE NECESSARY INFORMATION [please address all points below]:
- Available GLP studies: None available
- Available non-GLP studies: None available
- Historical human data: Not applicable
- (Q)SAR: To our knowledge there is no appropriate QSAR for estimating chronic toxicity with same endpoints altogether (hatching, survival and growth) as OECD TG 210.
- In vitro methods: To our knowledge there is no validated in vitro test method for estimating chronic toxicity with same endpoints as OECD TG 210.
- Weight of evidence: Not enough available data for a weight of evidence approach. Actually, no data available at all.
- Grouping and read-across: There is no identified group of substances or similar substance for a read across.
- Substance-tailored exposure driven testing [if applicable]: Surface water exposure cannot be excluded.
CONSIDERATIONS THAT THE SPECIFIC ADAPTATION POSSIBILITIES OF ANNEXES VI TO X (AND COLUMN 2 THEREOF) OF THE REACH REGULATION ARE NOT ADEQUATE TO GENERATE THE NECESSARY INFORMATION:
According to column 2, section 9.1, annex IX of REACH regulation EC 1907/2006, long-term toxicity tests on aquatic invertebrates and vertebrates should be conducted. There is no other specific adaptation to these endpoints under column 2. Three key short-term studies (for fish, invertebrates and algae) and one key long-term toxicity studies (for algae) are already available for the substance. Environmental exposure, including surface water, cannot be excluded. Therefore, an OECD 210 is proposed for evaluating the aquatic hazard of the substance.
FURTHER INFORMATION ON TESTING PROPOSAL IN ADDITION TO INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE MATERIALS AND METHODS SECTION:
- Details on study design / methodology proposed [if relevant]: A GLP OECD 210 compliant study is proposed. This is ECHA's generic request for long-term toxicity to fish.
