Due to the water solubility (> 480 g/L) and the hydrophilic character of the substance, binding to the solid soil phase is expected to be negligible. Hence it is expected that HEDTA will be found in the pore water rather than bound to soil particulates. Although not readily biodegradable HEDTA is ultimatley degradable through both abiotic (photolysis) and biotic degradation. Therefore no further tests on terrestrial organisms are provided.
