- TEST METHOD:
Viscosity test was conducted for Nonan-2-one (CAS No. 821-55-6) The Test item is a clear colourless liquid. To perform the test, the oil cup was cleaned with the tissue paper and kept on the viscometer’s stand. The water bath is filled with water and the oil cup with the Test item after placing the ball (valve) in the right position. A clean and dry 50 ml Kohlrausch flask was placed in such a way that the flask’s mouth was in the centre of the orifice jet of oil cup. The flow of Test item was observed at 20 °C and then at 40 °C. To count the flow time, the ball was lifted slowly and at the same time stopwatch was started. The oil was allowed to collect in the receiving flask. As soon as the oil touches the 50 ml mark of the flask, stop the watch was stopped and the time was recorded in seconds.
The experiment was conducted in replicate and the mean value was used for the determination of Kinematic viscosity. Dynamic viscosity was then calculated by putting the values of Kinematic viscosity and density of test item in the given formula. - GLP compliance:

Reference
1. Calculation of Kinematic Viscosities:
For Test Temperature at 200C
ν=ct
= 36 sec x0.264
= 9.504 mm2/sec
For Test Temperature at 400C
ν=ct
= 35.3 sec x 0.264
= 9.319mm2/s
2. Calculation of Dynamic Viscosities:
For Test Temperature at 200C
ν= η/ρ
9.504 =η/0.8200
η = 9.504 x0.8200
=7.793mPa.S
For Test Temperature at 400C
ν= η/ρ
9.319 =η/0.8200
η = 9.319x0.8200
= 7.641 mPa.S
