Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
It was concluded that dilithium adipate leaches into water, but the grease base appears to limit the bioaccessibility of the substance to less than 20% of the theoretical maximum dilithium adipate concentration as measured in the WAF.
Executive summary:

Leaching studies were undertaken by conducting analysis on water accommodated fractions (WAF) samples prepared at 1000 mg/L with base oil or base grease samples (dilithium adipate at 3.6% and lithium 12 -hydroxystearate at 9.4% in distillates (petroleum) hydrotreated heavy naphthenic base oil). The measured concentrations of lithium (0.55 mg/L) and adipate (4.5 mg/L) in the WAF of the leaching studies were equivalent to concentrations of 6.26 and 4.95 mg/L dilithium adipate respectively. It was concluded that dilithium adipate leaches into water, but the grease base appears to limit the bioaccessibility of the substance to less than 20% of the theoretical maximum dilithium adipate concentration as measured in the WAF.
