Description of key information

The adsorption coefficient Koc in soil and in sewage sludge3-phenoxybenzylic alcohol  (CAS No. 13826-35-2) was determined by the Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatographic method according to OECD Guideline No. 121 for testing of Chemicals. The reference substances were chosen according to estimated Kocrange of the test substance and generalized calibration graph was prepared. The reference substances were 4 chloroaniline, 4 methylaniline, N methylaniline, 2 Nitrophenol, Nitrobenzene, 4-Nitrobenzamide, N,N-dimethylbenzamide, N-methylbenzamide, Benzamide, phenanthrene were chosen having Kocvalue range from 1.239 to 4.09.TheLog Kocvalue was found tobe2.962 ± 0.001at 25°C.

According to the study conducted by UERL Report no.-13826-35-2/01/2015/ The adsorption coefficient of test substance 3-phenoxybenzylic alcohol (CAS No. 13826-35-2) was determined as per the HPLC method (OECD Guideline-121). The Log Koc value was found to be 2.962± 0.001 at 25°C.

The Soil Adsorption Coefficient i.e Log Koc value of 3-Phenoxybenzyl alcohol was estimated as 2.45determined by Estimation Programs Interface Suite™ United States Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, USA. version 4.1 using MCI method. This indicates that the substance 3-Phenoxybenzyl alcohol has a Low sorption to soil and sediment with moderate migration potential to groundwater.
