Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

NOEC was estimated to be 78.421 mg/l when 8-[(p-aminophenyl)azo]-7-hydroxy-2-naphthyl]trimethylammonium chloride tested on Daphnia Magna.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Prediction model based estimation of of short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was performed. The summary is as mentioned below:

Based on the QSAR prediction done using the EPI Suite ECOSAR version 1.10 (2016), the NOEC was estimated to be 78.421 mg/l when 8-[(p-aminophenyl)azo]-7-hydroxy-2-naphthyl]trimethylammonium chloride tested on Daphnia Magna.

The median Effective concentration (EC50) value for Basic brown 16 (CAS no 26381 -41 -9) on Daphnia magna in a 48 hour study was estimated to be 721.167053223 mg/L on the basis of mobility.

Though the chemical Basic brown 16 (CAS no 26381 -41 -9) is not readily biodegradable but it has a BCF < 500 and hence the chemical is likely to be "not classified" for aquatic classification as per CLP criteria.
