Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The bioconcentration factors and bioaccumulation factors were estimated for the three main constituents of the substance by using the BCFBAF v3.01 estimation tool (US EPA 2016).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
3.16 L/kg ww

Additional information

The target substance is an UVCB substance consisting of adipic acid, di-anhydride with bis(acetic acid) (ca. 57 %), Acetic acid (ca.32.5 %), acetic anhydride (ca. 7.1 %), adipic anhydride (ca. 1.5 %) and oligomeric adipic anhydrides (ca. 1.0 %). The target substance is unstable in water and decomposes immediately in contact with water to form adipic acid and acetic acid. There are no studies conducted for the substance itself.

WoE approach was used to assess the aquatic bioaccumulation. The bioconcentration factors and bioaccumulation factors were estimated for the three degradation products of the substance. The values were calculated by using the BCFBAF v3.01 estimation tool (US EPA 2016). Based on the estimated BCF/BAF value and the known abiotic degradation pathways of the target substance, the substance is not expected to be bioaccumulative.
