Description of key information

The determination of flammability is based on the flash point and the boiling point values of the target substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

The flammability of the substance can be determined based on the flash point and the boiling point of the substance. There are three different categories in the flammability classification criteria for liquids. Substance is classified as Flammable Liquid Category 3 when it has a flash point of ≥ 23 °C and ≤ 60°C. Also according to the CLP Regulation flammable liquid means a liquid having a flash point of not more than 60°C. Since the flash point of the target substance is 50°C it can be concluded that the substance is flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is classified for Flammable Category 3 according to 1272/2008 since the flash point of the substance (50°) is between the limit values set for Flammable liquids Cat. 3 (>23 - < 60°C).
