Additional information

In an OECD guideline study, CPC resulted in a Primary Dermal Irritation Index of 4.9, and is thus considered a moderate skin irritant. When instilled into the eyes of three rabbits, the substance caused severe eye damage (corneal opacity, iritis and conjuctivitis),

with sustained effects through at least 4 days.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the findings in guideline in vivo studies, CPC is a moderate skin irritant and is classified as Category 2, Irritant.

It caused severe corneal opacity, iritis and conjunctivitis to the eye, and is classified as Category 1, causes serious eye damage. A STOT-SE Category 3 for respiratory irritation (H335) is also applied.
