First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment. Obtain immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash thoroughly with water and continue for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and launder before reuse.
Thoroughly wash all affected areas with soap and water. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, foam, powder or carbon dioxide.

Product arising from burning: Noxious fumes (eg carbon and nitrogen oxides and chlorine containing compounds).

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and a self-contained breathing apparatus must be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Ensure suitable protective clothing during removal of spillages.

Damp down and sweep up into a container for disposal. Wash the spillage area with water.

Disposal should be in accordance with local, state or national legislation.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used under conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local regulations in order to avoid exposure by skin and eye contact, ingestion and inhalation.

Storage: Keep container tightly closed in a cool dry place.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Polythene lined fibre board kegs.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: There is a potential for dust explosion of this organic powder when it becomes airbourne. However, appropriate handling and storage procedures are used to minimise the risk of electrostatic discharge.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Handling of the substance will be by trained operators, and will be kept to a minimum.

Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically or technically feasible, and such waste material wiil be disposed of by incineration. In principle, it may be possible to recover larger spillages of uncontaminated material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The notification tests have shown that the substance is toxic, an eye irritant, a skin sensitiser and dangerous for the environment.

No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the hazardous health properties.

The potential dust storage hazard will be minimised by appropriate handling and storage.

No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the hazardous environmental properties.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with inert material (eg. sand or soil) should be disposed of by incineration in accordance with local regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg. carbon and nitrogen oxides and chlorine-containing compounds) could be
formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance will not normally be discharged directly to the sewage system or the aqueous environment.
