Description of key information

At pH 7 and room temperature: very rapid hydrolysis into alkanol, 2-dimethylsubstitutedethanol and titanium hydroxide.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a preliminary (K3,non-guideline) study at unknown temperature and pH and with several methodological uncertainties/deviations, it was shown that the test material hydrolysed rapidly into alkanol. The other parts of the substance were not followed-up. These data were not considered to be conclusive.

A new study was carried out to investigate if all equivalent alkanol and 2-dimethylsubstitutedethanol in the substance were released by hydrolysis. At pH 7 and room temperature, there was 100 % of release of alkanol equivalent (1H NMR result, after 10 min) and 82.7 to 84.1 % of release of 2-dimethylsubstitutedethanol equivalent (UPLC-MS-MS results, after 24 h). A white translucent hydrated solid precipitate was obtained, probably Ti(OH)4.
