Description of key information

The substance is not stable to hydrolysis.

However the half-lives could not be precisely determined due to the complexity of the substance. The kinetic of hydrolysis could be more precisely defined for the second peak identified during the analysis of the degradation products of the hydrolysis test. Half-lives of 3 hours, 3 days and 10 days were respectively estimated at pH 4, 7 and 9. at 25°C.

The degradation products were not determined. In the end a half-life of 3 days is used as an input parameter in the risk assessment calculation with THPC-urea.

Additional information

An hydrolysis test has been conducted according to the OECD 111 guideline. However due to the complexity of the substance a global half-life could not be precisely determined. From the analytical work during the test several peaks were identified from which half-lives could be determined for only one of the peaks. Half-lives of 3 hours, 3 days and 10 days were respectively estimated at pH 4, 7 and 9. at 25°C. The degradation products were not determined. In the end a half-life of 3 days is used as an input parameter in the risk assessment calculation with THPC-urea which is considered as a very worst case approach (the substance is expected to degrade much more rapidly in actual conditions). It is then suggested to refine the half-lives estimation by performing a new hydrolysis test adapted to real conditions with identification of the degradation products.
