Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

FAT 21021/E is a dark red coloured, odourless solid powder. The substance did not melt or boil until 350 °C and beginning of thermic decomposition observed at about 280 °C when tested according to OECD Guideline 102 for melting point and OECD Guideline 103 for boiling point determination, respectively. The average density was found to be 1.1.3667 g/cm³ at 20 °C with a median particle size of 109.377 μm. The vapour pressure was not determined. In accordance with Column 2 adaptation statement of REACH Annex VII, information requirement section 7.5, this study does not need to be conducted if the melting point is >300 °C. The partition coefficient n-octanol/water at 20 °C was determined to be: Pow = 0.00958; Log Pow = -2.02. The water solubility at a temperature of 20 °C was determined to be 1.2 g/L (without correction for the purity). The surface tension was determined to be 57.325 mN/m at 20 °C. Because the test substance is a solid, the flash point of FAT 21021/E was not determined. In accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI, information requirement section 7.9, this study does not need to be conducted based on the physical state of the substance and high melting point. According to ECHA guidance, flash point is only relevant to substances that are liquid or solids with low melting points at room temperature. FAT 21021/E showed no auto-ignition until 550 °C and the substance is considered not to be highly flammable and does not ignite spontaneously when in contact with water or humid air. The analysis of the chemical structure of FAT 21021/E reveals no alerts for explosive properties. The calculated chemical oxygen balance is above the trigger value of -200 and the determination of the exothermic decomposition energy demonstrated no energy release above the critical value of 500 J/g. Therefore, the substance is considered to be non-explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and no further testing is required. The oxidising properties  were not determined. In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, this study does not need to be conducted as this substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of its chemical structure.
